Something you may not know about me (Casey) is that I am absolutely useless if I don’t start my working day off with a treadmill run. I put my airpods in and try and beat my 5km time. Most often than not, I am listening to podcasts. And trust me when I say, I have listened to A LOT of SEO podcasts and a few Google Ads podcasts too. But there are very few I listen to regularly.
Most I find don’t give actionable tips, but rather gloss over topics, discussing the bare basics. Others I just disagree with, they either give outdated advice or advice I simply don’t agree with (usually because they go against best practices).
However it’s not all doom and gloom. There are SOME SEO podcasts I have listened to which I recommend to people and one Google Ads podcast I have come across so far, which I listen to on the regular. So give these podcasts a listen and bookmark this page as I will add to it if I come across any others worthy of your time.
Google Ads Podcasts
Podcast Name: The Paid Search Podcast
Host: Chris Schaeffer (based in the US I believe)
Frequency of episodes: Weekly
Episode length: Approx. 35-45 minutes
I started listening to The Paid Search Podcast about mid-2024 and have been tuning in for most of the weekly episodes. It is definitely a podcast for Google Ads specialists and those business owners who are managing their own Google Ads. It’s definitely more high-level and you need to understand the Google Ads platform to make sense of the podcast. However if this is you, then you will gain some interesting insights and opinions on a whole range of different topics. It has definitely given me some food for thought with my own clients accounts.
Chris is easy to listen to and does/has worked with some Australian clients, so you do hear Australian things pop up here and there. Find out more about The Paid Search Podcast.
SEO Podcasts
Podcast Name: Beginners SEO Podcast
Host: Phoebe (From the UK but based in Sydney now I believe)
Frequency of episodes: Weekly
Episode length: Approx. 10-20 minutes
If you are a business owner who is wanting to DIY your SEO, then this is a great podcast for you. I have recommended Phoebe’s podcast to a number of beginners. The episodes are short and sharp, which are perfect for a busy business owner and typically contain actionable insights with real world examples. Some great local SEO tips too!

Podcast Name: Small Business Sweet Spot
Host: Barb Davids (US based)
Frequency of episodes: 1-2 times per week
Episode length: From 5-50 minutes approx
I love Barb! She is my kind of SEO specialist and I reckon if we lived in the same town we would regularly be catching up for beers and SEO chats. She has very similar views on SEO topics and strategies to me and is able to break SEO topics down for business owners. Not all her episodes are focused solely on SEO, so you will get a mix of different topics and some episodes which are fairly niche as they are focused on a particular industry.
I think it is great Barb does quick 5-minute episodes on things like finding SEO keywords, optimising your Google Business profile, SEO tools and more! Check out the Small Business Sweet Spot podcast today.
Podcast Name: Search Off The Record
Host: Google
Frequency of episodes: Approx. 2 per month
Episode length: Approx. 30 minutes
I find the Search Off The Record podcast a little bit hit and miss, however every now and then there are some good SEO gems in it. There is obviously a lot of red tape as to what the Search Relations team from Google can and can’t say on this. However the aim of this organic search podcast is to take you behind the scenes of Google search and help you understand the inner workings.
There is a bit of geeky humour, they tend to interview a number of guests and this is the closest you’ll get to an SEO podcast directly from Google. Learn more about the Search Off The Record SEO Podcast.
Podcast Name: SERP’s Up SEO Podcast
Host: Wix
Frequency of episodes: 1 per week
Episode length: Approx. 30-60 minutes
The SERP’S Up SEO podcast is brought to us by Wix – the website builder. While I have done work on many Wix websites before, it’s not my absolute favourite CMS, however I do quite enjoy listening to their SEO podcast. They are based in America, which means they do talk about some features not yet available in Australia, which I find really interesting as it gets me ahead of the curve.
The two main hosts, Mordy adn Crystal are regularly joined by a number of guests. The topics vary from everything like AI Overviews, how to tell if Google loves you, are digital conferences worth it, and more. Check out more about Wix’s SERP’s Up SEO Podcast.
