If you have a business location which customers/clients visit then please do us all a favour and keep your Google Business Profile hours up to date. Speaking from experience, it’s frustrating as hell when you turn up at a shop/business and they are closed. Especially when their Google Maps listing says they are open.
Even if customers don’t visit your location but expect someone to answer the phone or emails, then it is worthwhile ensuring your Google Business hours are set to reflect when people can contact you and get a quick response.
If you haven’t yet set up your free Google My Business listing, here is how to do it >>
If you’re not sure what I am talking about, I am talking about the business listing that shows for your business on Google maps. And it can sometimes appear on the right hand side of the search results:
With this listing you can set your normal everyday hours alongside any ‘special hours’. These special hours are typically for public holidays when you may open and close your business at different times.
The hours are super easy to update, something which you can do in 5 minutes. Plus you can do it advance!
Here are the step-by-step instructions to update your holiday and business hours on Google:
- Go to Google and search for your business name:
2. Click the Edit Profile button in your dashboard.
3. Click on Hours at the top of the navigation bar.
4. And voila! On this screen you can now update your regular Opening Hours alongside and Holiday Opening Hours (I recommend taking the time at the start of the year to sit down and add these, so you don’t forget).
And just like that you’re done! While you’re in there I would definitely recommend checking all your other business info is correct. Plus why not enhance your listing even further with these Google Business Profile tips.
If you’re struggling to keep your listing looking good and up to date, feel free to get in touch and I can help you out.
