I have to admit something – I am an absolute Christmas fiend. As Morgan’s birthday is at the end of November, the rule in our house is that I can’t start decorating and playing Christmas tunes until after this date. Which is fair enough. However something I will be doing much earlier, and have in fact started doing already, is my Christmas shopping.
In the latest Think With Google – The Insights Briefing for October 2021, it seems like I am not alone in planning early for Christmas gifts in 2021 either:
“Across 26 countries, 42% of holiday shoppers say they will start their holiday shopping earlier than they did last year.”
We already know there’ll be postage delays, which means retailers need to spread this message to their customers and as customers we need to take this into account so our gifts arrive on time.
Therefore to help get you in the mood, I wanted to share some fantastic ideas for Christmas gifts that support Australian small businesses. Some of these are our wonderful clients, some are friends of GCD and they are all businesses we love, admire and shop from ourselves.
So put on the Christmas tunes (shhh…. don’t tell Morgan) and let’s start putting together your Christmas gift list for 2021:
Gifts for foodies
Family owned and operated, Justin and Jodee Wearne are some of the loveliest people you’ll meet! They are based in sunny Perth, so if you’re ordering from the east coast, definitely order with plenty of time to spare. They have a huge range of delicious foodie products that you won’t find just anywhere. They focus a lot on supporting other small businesses around Australia to help spread the word about their delicious products.
Check out their range of tasty Christmas hampers or Create Your Own Hamper fill to the brim of all your/the recipients favourite goodies. Plus they have some super cool things like gifts especially for gin lovers!
Do you know a sweet tooth in your life that you need to buy a Christmas gift for? Look no further than the Australian Sweet Co. They make all the old favourites and are experts at rock candy. We have ordered personalised GCD rock candy twice now! Plus if you know someone who loves rocky road, you truly cannot go past the Rocky Road Peanut Brittle. Drooooool!
Gifts for wine lovers
If you haven’t yet heard of Good Pair Days and you love wine, seriously where have you been? Good Pair Days are a wine subscription service – which means they deliver wine to your door every month for an incredibly affordable price if you ask me! What really sets GPD apart from all the other wine services is that you start your journey with them by completing their wine palate quiz so they can match wines based on your tastes! It’s a super smart algorithm.
6Ft6 Wines & Austin’s Wines
I like wine and food okay, hence why this list is a bit biased 😉 6Ft6 Wines and Austin’s Wines are owned by the Austin family who are based here in Geelong, Victoria. They have two awesome brands, both which make exceptional wine – don’t worry I have done the hard yards for you guys and taste tested a lot of the range!
If you know someone in the Geelong/Bellarine regions then joining the Austin’s Rent a Vine program would be absolutely a winning gift as you get to make your own wine! If your budget doesn’t stretch then check out their wine gift packs. Likewise, 6Ft6 have some excellent gift packs and merch that will surely put a smile on any wine lovers face. Here is the Prosecco Rose Picnic Gift Pack I ordered recently:
Upper Reach Winery
Upper Reach Winery are a small family owned winery in Perth’s Swan Valley. They have an excellent range of boutique wines, however they also have a gorgeous spa cottage on the vineyard (a must to stay at in Perth – and I am speaking from experience!) and they offer wine appreciation courses too.
Whicher Ridge Wines
Whicher Ridge Wines are based about 20 minutes from Busselton and about 40 minutes from Margaret River. So if you’re in Australia’s South West then you MUST visit this husband and wife run vineyard. The wines are top notch plus it’s the only place in Australia you can experience a Wine Sensory Garden! Give the gift of a Whicher Ridge wine experience this Christmas.
Gifts for the kids
Little Lion House
Another small, family owned business. Little Lion House is fairly new to the scene having started up at the start of 2021. We ordered some of their super cute and beautiful kids wall decals (removable wall stickers) a couple of month’s ago which are going to put up in Albie’s ‘big boy’ bedroom for Christmas. They are super high quality and we absolutely can’t wait for Albie to see them and encourage his imagination further.
PS: If you are having a baby soon, make sure to check out their hospital bag checklist – super helpful!
Gifts for her
Oh my goodness, if you are a journal lover, then you HAVE to check out Truly Amor. Melbourne Mum, Martha, has created a range of absolutely beautiful products that you will simply gush over. We have the Bebe Baby Book which has helped us keep all those special first memories for Albie. Plus I also treated myself to the Weekly Planner for the office.
Alongside the above, Truly Amor also has kids journals, couples journals and pregnancy + baby milestone cards. For anyone you know who is expecting, then make sure you check out Truly Amor, these products make amazing gifts!
If you are in Perth and need flowers, then look no further than A Touch Of Class Florist. Family owned and operated by an amazing woman – Emma, you just don’t get bouquets and flower arrangements like hers anywhere else. Alongside flowers, she also has a range of gorgeous pamper gifts and stocks some of the amazing Sweet Ember scented soy candles which are also made in Perth by her mum and sister!
Mille Moo Handmade Earrings
My very good friend Teagan in Newcastle, just started up her own sideline business in the last few months and I am so excited for her to join the entrepreneur world! When Teagan isn’t a primary school teacher, she is busy making handmade polymer clay earrings. I may be a little biased, but I think the Casey earrings are pretty darn nice 😉
Check out the full range of Mille Moo Earrings on Etsy. And here is a picture of me in one of the many pairs I have already in my collection:
All The Wild Roses – Sustainable Fashion
I now have two dresses from All The Wild Roses and I am so in love with them. They are beautifully made plus they are sustainably and ethically made as well. It’s feel good fashion that looks amazing, feels amazing and some are one off pieces too!
If you’re looking for some company merch to gift your customers or your employees, then the team at Minc Marketing should be your go to! Minc have helped us create some awesome GCD promotional products including pens, insulated champagne tumblers and desktop phone chargers. They do a HUGE range of different promotional products and can do some really out of the box ideas. Check out their 2021 branded corporate Christmas gift ideas catalogue.
Glow and Gifts
I used Glow and Gifts for my Christmas corporate gifting in 2020 and boy did it make my life so much easier! One-woman-band Bianca, sent me through some questions and then prepared a super professional proposal of different gift ideas within my price range for our GCD client family. I then picked what we wanted, supplied the names and addresses and she took care of the rest. It was exactly what we needed, seeing as we had a 9-month old at the time!
Check out Glow and Gifts corporate gift boxes to make your corporate gifts personalised and super easy to organise in 2021 and beyond!
